While Grand Strategy Media highlights a variety of national security and strategy content, it also serves as an archive and news site for Matthew G. Butler. Matt is a career military officer in the United States Air Force with decades of experience at the tactical, operational, and strategic levels of national defense including two tours in Baghdad, Iraq. 

In addition, Matt holds the following degrees:

Bachelor of Arts (History), Miami University, Oxford, Ohio

Master of Science in International Relations (National Security Affairs), Troy University, Alabama

Master of Science in Strategic Intelligence, National Intelligence University, Washington D.C.

Master of Philosophy in Military Strategy, USAF School of Advanced Air & Space Studies, Alabama

He is currently a doctoral student in international relations at Salve Regina University, Newport, Rhode Island.

Matt's other educational experiences include National Defense University's Center for the Study of WMD Program for Emerging Leaders, USAF Air Command & Staff College (nonresident), USMC Command & Staff College (nonresident), and Air War College (nonresident). 

In his personal capacity, Matt is a member of the Defense Council, Truman National Security Project.
